Building Construction
The building construction licensing exam is two-hours, closed book, and has 80 multiple-choice questions. The building construction licensing exam covers building structure, footings, foundations, concrete, fire protection, roofing, exterior finishes, lighting, ventilation, site work, exits, security, energy code, interior finishes, rough carpentry, excavation, exterior finishes, finish carpentry, roofing, insulation, drywall, painting and decorating, ceramic tile & floor and covering. In Louisiana you must also take a business and law exam, which is closed
book and three hours. This exam covers the following topics: license
law, federal and state tax laws, labor laws, estimating and bidding,
contracts, project management, risk management, accounting, business
organizations, Louisiana lien laws and contractor safety practices.
